The Six Million Dollar Man

The Six Million Dollar Man is an American television series about an ex-astronaut with bionic implants who works for the OSI, a fictional government agency. During pre-production, the title Cyborg was considered for the series, which is based on the Martin Caidin novel of the same name. Following the airing of three television movies in 1973, The Six Million Dollar Man aired for five seasons on the ABC network between 1974 and 1978. Lee Majors, who went on to become a 1970s pop culture phenomenon, portrayed the title character Steve Austin. The Bionic Woman, a spin-off series, lasted from 1976-1978. Between 1987 and 1994, other television films involving both eponymous characters were also produced.
