Beckner's pilot script, written in March 2001, posited a reinvented CIA tasked with a"War on Terror" after Osama Bin Laden's Al Qaeda terrorist organization plots a deadly attack in the west. The pilot was to premiere at CIA Headquarters on September 18, 2001 and place to air on CBS September 21, 2001, but the specific 9/11 attacks convinced the network to support the pilot and instead air a subsequent incident. That episode was aired later as the episode of this primary season. The September 11, 2001 terrorist events changed the way Americans viewed topical entertainment and"The Agency", during the moment, was one of the very topical offering on network tv. The manufacturers of this series quickly responded for the brand fresh American outlook in the world affairs, but CBS decided to cancel the series after the final episode of the season.
