Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica

MTV and MuchMusic produced and broadcast the reality television program Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. It followed Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson's marriage as husband and wife. The series premiered in August of 2003 and ran for three seasons for a total of 41 episodes. The final season premiered on January 26, 2005, with the final episode airing on March 30, 2005. Simpson and Lachey tied the knot on October26,2002, and Simpson filed for divorce on December16, 2005. Jessica and Nick's divorce was finalized on June 30, 2006. As part of the show's gimmick, Simpson's naive attitude was highlighted, playing on the widespread image of "dumb blondes." Simpson, confronted with a can of Chicken of the Sea tuna, challenged Nick about its provenance in the pilot episode "Fish or chicken? Even though I know it's tuna, it says "Chicken... by the Sea.""
