Casanova

The Italian adventurer and libertine Giovanni Jacopo Casanova dwelt from 17 25 to 1798, in this six-part show Dennis Potter attempted to get a significance through his central themes of religion and sex. He commented that Casanova"was concerned with sexual and religious freedom, and those are the things we need to address ourselves to now." Casanova premiered in Venice in 1755, also Potter used that event as a central device, constantly inter-cutting to contrast Casanova's amorous lit, at the forefront of a half-darkened cell using his solitary confinement.
