Toni

The Provence in the 1920s is a magnet for immigrants looking for work in the quarries or farmland. Many blend with the locals and establish permanent residences, as Toni, an Italian, has done with Marie, a Frenchwoman. Even the most orderly existence is susceptible to boredom, friendship, love, and hate, and Toni becomes involved in a web of increasingly emotional connections. For there is Fernand, his greatest friend, but also Albert, his obnoxious boss; Sebastian, a sturdy Spanish farmer, but also Gabi, his young rogue relative; Marie, but also Josefa.
