The Devil's Trap

A priest with a secret mission visits a tiny community one day. The Inquisition has dispatched him to examine the activities of a local miller. The miller and his son are descendants of an ancient family whose ancestral home was destroyed by fire a century ago and rebuilt from scratch. The miller received most of his knowledge about the soil, water, and structural integrity of a structure from previous generations of his family. The Inquisition is aware of his reputation for locating water and forecasting when a structure will collapse; he must be in collaboration with the devil.
