Sweeney Killing Sweeney

Sweeney, the "Character King," an aging local standup comic, is offered a spot on a national cable show based in Los Angeles. The only stipulation is that Sweeney remove all locally referenced material from his act, the most important of which is his portrayal of his colorful Boston "characters," which have become a staple of his home field success. Sweeney makes the difficult decision to discontinue portraying the roles. To his dismay, the figures "resurrect" and want vengeance; they attempt to assassinate Sweeney.
