Royal Shakespeare Company: Cymbeline

Britain is experiencing a crisis. In a dystopian Britain, an ineffective Queen Cymbeline is in charge. Cymbeline's judgment is impaired since she is overcome with sadness over the deaths of two of her kids. An incensed Cymbeline excommunicates Posthumus after Innogen, the only heir still alive, secretly weds her sweetheart. An assassination attempt is being planned for them both by a power-hungry man behind the throne. Innogen's exiled husband, who has been duped into thinking she has abandoned him, launches a plot to have her killed out of impetuous jealousy. After being warned of the danger, Innogen disguises herself and flees the court. She then sets out on a perilous trip that will ultimately bring the young lovers together and reunite Cymbeline with a long-lost heir.
