Road 47

During World War II, a Brazilian Expeditionary Force-FEB-mines sweep platoon is attacked by a panic-attack that sends them wandering aimlessly in the middle of "no man's land" in Italy's Mount Amiata. When faced with a choice between facing military court or going deeper behind enemy lines, underequipped soldiers often make the latter choice out of desperation. After much debate, they decide to try and redeem themselves in the eyes of the Brazilian Army by attempting to defuse the most dreaded minefield in Italy. Eventually, they meet up with two additional deserters en route: a repentant Italian soldier who wants to join the Partigianos, and a German officer who has had enough of the fighting. The soldiers, with the aid of an unexpected ally (their former enemy), are about to achieve a mission that was previously thought to be impossible.
