Ordet

The three sons of Danish farmer Morten have enacted religious beliefs. Youngest boy Anders shares the religion of his father, but eldest son Mikkel has lost his beliefs, while mid child Johannes has become delusional and proclaims he is Jesus Christ himself. Everybody's beliefs have been put to the test when Mikkel's wife, Inger switches in to a tricky childbirth.
