Rei Kiriyama (Ryunosuke Kamiki) is a shogi (Japanese chess) player who is 17 years old. When he was in middle school, he made his professional shogi debut. He lives alone in Tokyo following the deaths of his parents and younger sister in a traffic accident when he was a child. Rei Kiriyama meets his neighbors' three sisters one day. Akari, Hinata, and Momo Kawamoto are the three sisters. This is his first encounter with someone from outside the realm of shogi in many years. Rei Kiriyama feels at ease when she shares meals with the Kawamoto family. As Rei Kiriyama advances in his shogi career, his encounters with his neighbors enable him to develop both as a player and as a person.
