King Rat

The Allied POWs, mostly British but for Example Some Americans, were incarcerated in Changi prison, when Singapore surrendered to the Japanese in 1942. There were no walls or barbedwire fences for the very simple reason that there wasn't any place for the prisoners to flee . Included one of the prisoners may be that the American Cpl. King, a wheeler dealer who's managed to established a fairly great life for himself in the camp. While most of the prisoners are close starvation and possess uniforms which come in tatters, King eats and and contains clean clothes to wear. King soon forms a friendship with Lt. Peter Marlowe, an upper class British officer who's fascinated with King's élan life-style.
