I Am Slave

The story follows Malia, the daughter of champion wrestler Bah, as she is kidnapped from her Sudanese town in the Nubar Mountains by pro-government Arab militia and sold into slavery to a woman in Khartoum who punishes her for touching her daughter. She is sent to London after six years, where her name is changed, but her miserable life of servitude continues. Her passport is confiscated, and she is told that if she goes to the authorities, her father will die. Fortunately, she meets a sympathetic person who appears to offer her the possibility of escape and reunion with Bah, who is still in Sudan. Despite the film's optimism, the end title states that there are approximately 5,000'slave' workers in Britain today.
