Enigma

The transport ship Genesis, now a floating corpse in outer space, has become a puzzle unto itself. The crew of the ship has been wiped out. When the Genesis set out on a straightforward transfer operation, it ended with the deaths of the crew and the disappearance of a high-value prisoner. Earth's inhabitants are facing an existential threat. The Cnidarians, an alien race, are the enemy they are battling. One of their first Cnidarian prisoners, codenamed 71099, was captured after a violent attack on the Vendetta by USSM special forces. However, Ediolon, the phantom, is the ship's common name throughout the fleet. Realizing that a military transport would be an easy target for their enemy, the USSM hired the freelance ship Genesis, which was led by Nathaniel J. Rhys, to sneak the prisoner to the high security prison on Mars' moon Demos. The ship never made it to the port of call.
