The Mayo Clinic: Faith, Hope, and Science is a documentary that chronicles the tale of a unique medical facility that has been dubbed a "Medical Mecca," the "Supreme Court of Medicine," and the "place for hope where there is no hope." After a terrible tornado struck rural Minnesota in1883, the Sisters of Saint Francis formed an odd alliance with a village doctor named William Worrall Mayo. It has now developed into an organization that sees over a million patients each year from all 50 states and 150 countries. "The needs of the patient come first," Dr. Mayo taught his kids Will and Charlie. They would treat people rather than diseases. In a world where healthcare is often fragmented among specialized specialties, the Mayo Clinic employs a multi-specialty, team-based approach that has fostered a culture of collaboration since its inception.
