Lullaby of Broadway
Pretty Melinda Howard has been performing abroad with a singing company. She intends to surprise her mother, whom she believes to be a great Broadway actress with a mansion in Manhattan, by returning home. She is unaware that her mother is an exhausted cabaret performer with a passion for liquor. When she gets at the mansion, two servants who are friends of her mother take her in. The home actually belongs to Adolph Hubbell, a benevolent Broadway producer who becomes entangled in the hoax. Hubbell falls in love with Melinda and promises to cast her in his next production. Melinda develops a romantic relationship with a handsome hoofer who is also a cast member. Melinda is doing well, with the exception of her desire to see her mother, who continually delays their reunion.
