Scene of the Crime

Tatort is a long-running German/Austrian/Swiss, crime television set collection in parts of these nations. The show is aired in Germany, ORF 2 in SF 1 and also Austria in Switzerland. The first episode was aired on November 29, 1970. The opening order for this particular show has stayed the same during the years, which remains highly unusual for any such long-running TV series up to date. Each of the regional TV channels which form ARD, also ORF along with SF, produces its episodes, starring its own police inspector, some of which, such as the Schimanski that is discontinued, have become cultural icons. The show looks on DasErste and ORF 2 on Sundays at 8:15 pm and currently about 30 episodes have been made annually. At the time of March 2013, 865 episodes as a whole are produced. Tatort is being aired on the MHz World-view channel in the USA under the name Scene of the Crime.
