The Unseen

When their kid is killed in an accident, Gemma and Will's world is shattered. Gemma begins to hate herself and suffers panic attacks, which impair her vision - and that of the audience. Tormented Will believes he hears his son crying out to him. Gemma advises they accept Paul's offer to stay at his Lake District rural retreat in order to escape their grief. Gemma's attempts to treat her panic episodes with medication, assisted by ex-pharmacist Paul. Will, unable to communicate with his son in his home bedroom, antagonizes Paul and abruptly returns home. Gemma has developed a dependency on Paul, who appears to be growing genuine concern for her well-being. Gemma brings to the fore love, sadness, and the weakness of the human condition. Will and Paul become entangled in a downward spiral of psychological and ultimately physical violence.
