Middleground

He and she. A husband and wife staying in a lovely hotel where you can remain for a couple of days at the risk of becoming trapped indefinitely. It's all too easy to become ensnared in one's everyday routine. Indeed, there is nothing more permanent than the transitory. Their time is similar to that of a flat circle. He has phone calls to make and business meetings to attend. She is ensconced in her dreams and anxieties. All responses are predictable, and all talks are memorized. Life continues to play like an infinite LP record, repeating itself. However, a few things, such as a scratch on the record, a crack in a wine glass, a startled glance, or an encounter with a stranger, can disrupt this melody. And then you realize that tomorrow will arrive shortly. Anything can happen at any time, throwing you off path and forcing you to make a choice.
