After the lifts in a nyc skyscraper begin inexplicably mal-functioning, putting its passengers at risk, mechanic Mark Newman (James Marshall) and author Jennifer Evans (Naomi Watts) begin separate analyses. Newman gets immunity from superiors at his companion, which manufactured the elevator, while elevator events cause several deaths. There looms a far stranger excuse, although Law enforcement become involved and assume that terrorists are more responsible.
